European Oak Collection — Chevron

Chevron rather than herringbone — the boards are cut on an angle so the points meet in a continuous V down the room, instead of interlocking at right angles. It is the more formal of the two patterns and the more directional: it stretches a room along whichever way you run it. A narrow 90mm × 15mm board, Prime Grade, in four colours.

Where it doesn’t suit

Chevron is the most expensive way to lay a timber floor and we would rather you knew that before you fell for it. The angled cut wastes more board than herringbone does, the setting-out has to be exact because a chevron that drifts is obvious from the doorway, and it takes the longest of any pattern to lay. It is worth it in the right room — a formal living space or a wide entry where the floor is meant to be the feature. In a small or awkwardly shaped room, the pattern fights the walls and a straight plank will look better and cost less.

Why there is no price here

The number depends on your area, your subfloor and what preparation it needs — and a preparation surprise on the day is the thing that turns a good quote into a bad one. We measure first, then quote once, itemised.
