Preference Floors
Prestige Oak
European Oak on a multi-ply core, and the widest choice of anything we stock — sixty colours across four thicknesses. The 21mm boards are 2200mm long and 220mm wide with a 6mm wear layer; the 15mm are 1900 x 190mm with 4mm. That wear layer is the number that matters most: at 4 to 6mm this floor can be sanded back and refinished several times, which is the difference between a floor you replace and a floor you renew.

Where it doesn’t suit
Two things people get wrong with it. First, oak is soft — Janka 5.5 to 6.0kN, roughly half an Australian blackbutt — so under a dining chair or a dog it will mark, and if that would bother you, Fiddleback or Elk Falls is the harder floor. Second, Preference only warrant it over in-slab hydronic heating, not electric underfloor mats; if you have the latter, this is the wrong floor and it is worth checking before you fall for a colour. Some colours also carry an AB grade or a RAW uncoated option at a different price, so tell us which colour you like before we quote.
