European Ash Collection — Plank
Ash instead of oak, which is the whole point of it. The grain is straighter and more open than oak, and it takes a pale finish without going pink — so the near-white boards stay genuinely white rather than drifting warm the way limed oak does. Five colours on a 190mm × 15mm board, all Prime Grade, so knots and colour variation are kept to a minimum.

Near-black and very flat — it shows dust and footmarks more than any other board in the collection.

Where it doesn’t suit
Prime Grade is a look, not a quality ranking, and it is the one thing to be sure about before you commit. It means very few knots, minimal gum vein and very low colour variation — beautiful if you want a calm, uniform floor, and wrong if you came in wanting character and movement. If you like a board with knots and personality, the Natural Grade oak is the one to look at, not this. The other thing worth knowing: ash is a less familiar species here than oak, so a future repair or extension may be harder to match from stock — worth ordering a little extra at the start.
