The same five ash colours as the plank, cut to a 150mm × 15mm herringbone block. Because Prime Grade ash is so uniform, the pattern reads as pattern — the eye follows the geometry rather than getting lost in knots and colour jumps, which is exactly what you want from herringbone.

Where it doesn’t suit
Herringbone is an installation decision more than a product decision. It takes noticeably longer to lay than a plank floor, wastes more material at the perimeter, and it wants a properly flat subfloor — the pattern telegraphs a dip far more obviously than a straight lay does. Budget for the extra labour and the extra material rather than being surprised by it. And in a small room, a 150mm block can read busy; we would rather show you a sample laid out on the floor than talk you into it.
