A 60oz plush on a 13mm pile — plush rather than twist, so the fibres stand upright and the surface reads as a smooth, velvet-like field instead of a textured one. Fifteen shades named after French towns, running from a near-white through greys to a proper navy and a near-black.

Where it doesn’t suit

Plush is the finish that divides people, so try it before you commit. Because the fibres stand straight up, the surface shades light and dark depending on which way it has been walked or vacuumed — some people read that as luxurious, others find the shading maddening and never stop seeing it. It is not a fault and it cannot be fixed by cleaning. If you like a floor that looks uniformly one colour from every angle, a twist pile like Mink is the safer choice. If you love the way a plush catches light, nothing else in the book does it.
