Loop pile is the practical way to own wool: no tracking, no shading, a surface that still looks brushed in the busiest room of the house. Two cautions. A loop can catch a claw, so homes with big dogs or door-scratching cats are usually happier in a cut pile. And like every wool it will fade in hard, unshaded western sun — that room wants blinds first, or a solution dyed nylon instead.
