Oakleaf HD PLUS
The realism range — printed across thirty pattern repeats where most laminate cycles through six to twelve board images, which across a room is the difference between a floor that reads as timber and one where you start recognising the same knot. It adds a 48-hour water-resistant core, moisture-treated bevel edges and a Välinge click, and it carries GREENGUARD Gold for low chemical emissions.

Where it doesn’t suit
It is 48-hour water resistant, not 72 — if the run includes a kitchen or a laundry doorway, Aspect is the better board and we would rather tell you now. The 8mm option in selected colours is a genuinely different floor from the 12mm: thinner underfoot, and it will sound it over a suspended timber subfloor, so listen to both before you choose on price. Three colours — Bellmore Oak, Hampton Oak and Windsor — are on their way but Preference has not released swatches, so we have left them off rather than show you the wrong board.
